Activities for March 2017
Workshop: Introduction to Raspberry Pi and Python
Second-year students from MMU will be delivering this month’s introductory workshop.
Learn how to boot your Raspberry Pi, then have a go with the Python programming language, before moving on to its use within Minecraft: Pi Edition, and a demonstration of using the popular Sense HAT addon board.
Workshop: Traffic Lights with gpiozero and guizero
Manchester Raspberry Jam founder and community manager at the Raspberry Pi Foundation Ben Nuttall will be returning to the Jam this month with colleague Clare and will be running a workshop on using the popular ‘zero’ libraries for Python.
The gpiozero library provides a simple interface to controlling devices connected to the GPIO pins, and the new guizero library makes it easy to throw together a graphical user interface – in just a few lines of Python code you can create a series of buttons to control LEDs. Come along and learn to build a GUI for controlling traffic lights using guizero and gpiozero.
All-day Activity: The Pi Clinic
Pete will once again be running the Pi clinic throughout the day.
Getting started with your Raspberry Pi? Or perhaps you’re stuck on a project, or just have a crazy idea and no idea how to make it a reality?
Bring your Pi, your projects or your ideas along to the Pi Clinic and we’ll do our best to get you moving in the right direction.
